Tanya Garland has began practicing yoga in 2006 as a method of rehabilitation after a serious car accident. The positive impact of Yoga became immediately clear in her life, having a profound effect not only on her physical body but also bringing about a new inner balance and tranquility.
Earning her Certificate from the Salt Spring Center of Yoga in 2008 and her Yin Yoga certification in 2010, Tanya has continued to explore multiple styles and completed a week long Yoga Therapy intensive with Functional Synergy in 2011 focusing on pain reduction, illness and accident recovery . She now returns every summer to The Salt Spring Center as a faculty member teaching asana in their teacher training immersion intensives.
Recently she has been exploring the use of Yoga as a support to horsemanship. Yoga principles can be applied to improve balance, flexibility, strength and body awareness in the rider both on and off the horse. Yoga has a remarkable calming affect and can be used to help build a relationship, connection and open compassionate lines of communication between rider and equine.
Offering classes in Hatha, Yin, Power Vinyasa, Meditation and Yoga Therapy in both private and public settings. Committed to “teach to learn” her class approach combines attention to alignment and breath with an open-hearted attitude, spiritual awareness and good humor. She is thrilled to be able to share her passion for the practice and it's positive impact on her life and invites you to explore how this ancient practice could enhance yours.
