What Is Laughter Yoga?

Laughter Yoga (Hasya Yoga) is a physically oriented technique that uses a blend of playful, "tension-releasing" simple laughter exercises with gentle yoga-breathing and stretching exercises. It is non-religious, non-sectarian, and non-political. It was developed by Dr. Madan Kataria a medical doctor in India who realized his patients could benefit from the effects of regular laughter.

What is a Laughter Club?

At a laughter club we do a series of simple and fun activities based on Laughter Yoga. We call this "laughing for no reason" because we do not use jokes or clowning and you are not expected to "be funny." The activities we do are suitable for all. All it takes to participate is the desire to laugh and join in the fun. Laughter Clubs can last from 20 minutes to 1 hour. There are over 5000 laughter clubs around the world!
